Mission Statement
Our purpose is to introduce and prepare students for a fulfilling, successful career in operational, digital, or broadcast meteorology. Anchor Spotlight

Hello! I am a sophomore majoring in atmospheric sciences here at UND. I’ve been working as an anchor for Weather Update since Fall 2025! Weather Update hones in my forecasting skills for any operational meteorology I may do in the future.
On campus I am involved in our meteorology AMS chapter, UND Chi Alpha Campus Ministry and research for the atmospheric sciences department. I will always enjoy a good conversation about meteorology or faith. As well, I enjoy spending time outdoors with people whether running, hiking, camping or cloud watching. Thank you for your support for Weather Update!

Hi there! My name is Brennen Andrusko. I am from Eagan, Minnesota. I have been an anchor with Weather Update since the spring of 2026, and I am in my third year as an atmospheric sciences major at UND. Although I am not completely sure what my plan is after college, broadcast meteorology is a particular interest I have been growing to love and have been considering it post-grad. I have a big interest in severe weather and love to go chasing storms in my free time. I have a huge passion for traveling, and a fun fact about that is that I have been to 40 states, including Hawaii and Alaska, and 3 countries! I also love hiking and the outdoors. During the summer I spend a lot of my time up at the North Shore in Minnesota camping and exploring. I also love playing sports. I went to the state tournament in tennis and played hockey and football in high school, and my current job is driving the Zamboni at the local hockey rink! I am also a huge music head and listen to just about every genre you can think of!

Hello! I’m currently a sophomore at UND majoring in Atmospheric Sciences. I recently began working as an anchor for Weather Update at the start of the Spring 2026 semester. I’m passionate about meteorology and hope to pursue a career in forecasting or broadcast, though I’m open to exploring a wide range of opportunities within the field.
Outside of meteorology, I enjoy staying active and spending time outdoors. I love playing rec sports at the Wellness Center, biking the long trail around Grand Forks, and traveling whenever I get the chance.

Hello! My name is Cole Gabos, and I am a current Junior in the Atmospheric Science at UND from the Twin Cities! I have been a member of weather update since my freshman year and more recently, become an anchor for just about one year now. I grew up with my eyes glued to the sky and weather forecasters on TV since I can remember, so being able to talk about weather online is an amazing experience.
Outside of my love for learning more about weather, I participate in multiple music ensembles as a member of the Pride of the North Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, and UND Brass Quintet. I enjoy spending time outdoors biking, walking, gardening, watching the clouds, and just spending time with my friends! Thank you for watching our forecasts and allowing us to share our love for weather!

Hello, My name is Ethan Adams, a sophomore in the atmospheric sciences department from Thornton, Colorado. I just began working with UND Weather Update this past fall and became an anchor this January. I am currently unsure of where I want to go post-college, but working with weather update will allow me to broaden my search interests.
Outside class, I am a part of the UND Cross Country & Track Program running the distance events including the Mile, 3k, 5k, and 10k. So during the academic calendar, you might see my teammates and I running around town so don’t be afraid to yell at us and say hi! When I have the chance to go back home, I love to either hike the beautiful trails in the summer time or alpine ski in the winter time.

Hello! If you don’t know me, I’m a current junior in the atmospheric sciences program at UND. I’ve been working as an anchor for Weather Update since Fall 2023, with a brief stint on local TV at Valley News! I hope to work one day as a broadcast meteorologist, potentially in the Fargo-Moorhead region at first!
Outside of studies, I love to spend as much time as I can outdoors. During the summer, you’ll find me fishing the local waterways, scaling a mountain back on the East Coast, or enjoying a nice day biking by the river or throwing some discs at the local courses! During the winter, you’ll still find me out in the mountains hiking or skiing, or out snowshoeing on the local trail network here in Forks. If you ever see me out around town, please feel free to stop and say hi!

I am currently a sophomore in UND’s Atmospheric Sciences program. I have been anchoring for Weather Update since the start of 2026 and have been forecasting since my freshman year. I build my own forecasts and compare them to the National Weather Service as a good way to practice forecasting. I have worked with the North Dakota Ag Weather Network since graduating from high school and after school I plan on working as a broadcast meteorologist or operational forecasting for the National Weather Service.
My hobbies include working on trains in video games and real life and reading books, particularly about technology such as the Apollo Moon missions, or navigation on the Great Lakes. I spend my free time outdoors going on walks, bike rides, gardening, or taking my tractor around the country block. During severe weather you may find me out and about tracking storms or getting lost and attempting to find my bearings.
